I am a Clinical psychologist working from my practice in Newlands Village. I offer psychotherapy to adult individuals and to couples, providing them with a supportive and empathic environment to facilitate exploration of, and insight into, the patterns and conflicts within themselves and their experiences of life and relationships.

My approach is aimed at ongoing psychological growth through increased awareness, knowledge and acceptance of the self. To achieve this I help clients to recognise and build on their strengths, to work through painful experiences, to identify and challenge any fears and self-defeating patterns that may be limiting their true potential and damaging their relationships and the ability to live life fully across all their important life roles. (As a partner/spouse/parent/friend/businessperson/community member)

I offer both brief and long-term therapy, working with difficulties experienced in everyday life as well as more deep-seated obstacles rooted in the past, with the challenges confronted when important life-changes have to be navigated and dealt with, as well as with the impact of crisis and trauma.

I see a diverse range of presenting problems, including:
mood disorders such as depression and anxiety, life-crises, grief-work and bereavement, adjustment difficulties, aging and retirement, aggression and other self-defeating behaviours, stress-related difficulties, self-esteem problems and relationship difficulties, including any and all relationships, divorce, parenting issues, single parent issues and support, as well as personal growth over the many changes and stages throughout our life span.

Although I approach these from a psychodynamic theoretical base, I draw from many different therapeutic approaches, tailoring therapy to the needs of the individual client. My passion for this work is inspired by the willingness of so many to embrace the option of choosing more consciously to be open to change and to be true to themselves so that they can embrace life and all its opportunities
